“Through the ages the parent-child relationship explored in art is often
in the role of mother and child. A critical moment in my creative journey
has been the birth of my sons and my Son & Father series is the
unsentimental reflection of those inter-generational encounters. Fathers
can model positive and negative traits, and that overwhelming and
compelling impact of a father on his son is what has stimulated my latest
body of work. Icarus-like, the son launches forth into the future,
casting away from the anchoring forces of his father.”
